The apparatus, particularly for excluding birds from the underside of bridges, comprises a first support bar 3 and at least one panel 5, the first support bar comprising an attachment elements permitting attachment of the first support bar to a flange, the first support bar comprising at least one first connection element 9 permitting connection of the panel to the first support bar, wherein the panel is pivotable about the at least one first connection element such that the panel may be rotated between an open position and a closed position. A second support bar 4 is preferably arranged adjacent to the first support bar so that the panel is supported on the second support bar when in a closed position. The attachment element is preferably a Z-clip. The bars are preferably T-bars. Also claimed is a kit of parts for forming an apparatus for excluding birds and a method of excluding birds.

CLAIMS
1. An apparatus for excluding birds, the device comprising a first support bar and
at least one panel, the first support bar comprising an attachment means
permitting attachment of the first support bar to a flange, the first support bar
comprising at least one first connection means permitting connection of the
panel to the first support bar, wherein the panel is pivotable about the at least
one first connection means such that the panel may be rotated between an open
position and a closed position.
2. Apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first support bar further comprises
at least one second connection means permitting releasable connection of a
panel to the first support bar.
3, Apparatus according to any preceding claim, further comprising a second
support bar arranged adjacent to the first support bar such that the panel is
supported by the second support bar when in a closed position.
4. Apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the second support bar comprises at
least one second connection means permitting releasable connection of the
panel to the second support bar.
5. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first support bar
and/or the second support bar is a T-bar.
6. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the panel is a mesh panel. 7. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first connection means
and/or second connection means is an R-clip.
8. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first support bar
and/or second support bar is made of galvanised steel, stainless steel,
aluminium, rigid polypropylene, injection moulded plastic, 3D printed plastic
or glass.
9. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the attachment means
comprises a first engagement surface for engagement of the attachment means
to the flange, and a second engagement surface for engagement of the
attachment means to the first support bar.
10. Apparatus according to claim 9, wherein at least a portion of the first
engagement surface is coated with an adhesive for attaching the attachment
means to the flange.
11. Apparatus according to claim 9 or 10, wherein at least a portion of the second
engagement surface is coated with an adhesive for attaching the attachment
means to the first support bar.
12. Apparatus according to claim 9 or 10, wherein at least a portion of the first
engagement surface is coated with a silicon sheet material or electrical
insulation material, arranged such that when the attachment means is attached
to the flange, the silicon sheet material or electrical insulation material is
sandwiched between the attachment means and the flange.
13. Apparatus according to any of claims 9 to 12, wherein at least a portion of the
second engagement surface is coated with a silicon sheet material or electrical
insulation material, arranged such that when the attachment means is attached
to the first support bar, the silicon sheet material or electrical insulation material
is sandwiched between the attachment means and the first support bar. 14. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the attachment means is
a Z-clip.
15. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first support bar
and/or the second support bar comprises two connection means. 16. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the at least one first
connection means is a releasable connection means.
17. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the flange is a flange of a
girder.
18. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein a secondary attachment
means 1s provided to facilitate attachment of the first support bar to the flange.
19. Apparatus according to any preceding claim, wherein the first support bar
comprises a strip of anti-vibration tape.
20. A kit of parts for forming an apparatus for excluding birds, comprising
a. a first support bar comprising an attachment means and at least one first
connection means; and
b. apanel.
21. A kit of parts according to claim 20, for forming an apparatus for excluding
birds according to any of claims 1 to 19.
22. Method of excluding birds, comprising steps of
a. arranging a first support bar between a pair of adjacent flanges; and
b. connecting a panel to at least one first connection means arranged on the
first support bar such that the panel is pivotable about the at least one
first connection means between and open position and a closed position.
