摘要:
1390447 Decorated paper containing laminate MEAD CORP 23 May 1972 [28 May 1971 24 March 1972] 24216/72 Heading B5N A decorated paper adapted for use in abrasion resisting laminates comprises a paper base layer, a top layer comprising abrasion resisting mineral particles having a hardness of 7 or more on the Moh scale and an average particle size ranging from 10 to 90 microns, and printing applied to said top layer. In a preferred embodiment, the top layer also includes paperforming fibres. The decorated paper may be made by depositing a paper base layer on the forming wire of a paper machine, depositing a top layer over said paper base layer while said base layer is in a wet state, said top layer comprising the mineral fibres defined above and optionally paper-forming fibres, pressing and drying the superposed layers and printing on the exposed side to the top layer. The particles may be of alumina, silica, alundum, corrundum, emery, spinel, tungsten, carbide, beryllium carbide, silicon carbide, aluminium carbide, boron carbide, diamond dust and mixtures thereof. A laminate is produced from the decorated paper by impregnating the paper with a resin, e.g. a melamine-aldehyde resin, and curing and uniting the resin impregnated paper with an underlying core. The core may comprise wood, particle board, plaster board, asbestos board or a plurality of plies of unbleached Kraft paper impregnated with a resin, e.g. a phenol-aldehyde resin. Consolidation of the assembly to be laminated is effected under heat and pressure.

Examples 4445. Sheets of the printed multilayer decor paper of Examples 28 and 33 were saturated with a self-crosslinking acrylic resin in latex form. The water was evaporated and the resin cross-linked by heating at 1300 C. The resultant product was suitable for such applications as wear resistant book covers, or could be adhered to a base or core to provide a thicker, laminated structure.
