The invention relates to a mascara applicator having a generally oblong shape and extending along a main axis (A), the applicator (1) comprising at least three segments (4) distributed around the main axis (A) so as to define between them an internal cavity (5) of the applicator (1). The segments (4) extend between a base (2) to which they are connected and a free end (3) of the applicator (1), opposite the base (2), and are shaped such that the cavity (5) has an axisymmetric shape about the main axis (A), said cavity (5) being open via spaces formed between the segments (4). The segments (4) extend in a spiral about the main axis. The invention thus developed makes it possible to obtain a mascara applicator offering great autonomy due to an internal cavity and the general three-dimensional configuration of which provides good flexibility and enables easy application on the eyelashes.

Applicator for mascara having an oblong general shape and extending along a main axis (A), the applicator (1) comprising at least three branches (4) distributed around the main axis (A) so as to define a cavity (5) between them inside the applicator(1), and wherein the branches (4) extend between a base (2) to which they are connected and a free end (3) of the applicator (1), remote from the base (2), and are shaped such that the cavity (5) has a form of a surface of revolution around the main axis (A), said cavity (5) being open by spaces formed between said branches (4) the branches(4) each comprising, on an outside surface (7), protrusions (8) extending perpendicularly and radially in relation to the main axis (A), the protrusions (8) have a length varying along the main axis (8), the length of the protrusions (8) continuously increasing between the base (2) and a point of the main axis (A) located between said base (2) and the free end (3) of the applicator (1), and continuously decreasing between said point of the main axis (A) and the free end (3) of the applicator (1), characterized in that : - said branches (4) extend in helical form around the main axis (A), - the cavity does not contain any element connecting the base (2) and the free end (3) of the applicator (1), - each branch (4), leaving the base (2) and going towards the free end (3), progressively diverges from the main axis (A) before coming closer in the vicinity of the free end 3.
2. Applicator for mascara according to claim 1, wherein the branches(4) meet in the vicinity of the free end (3) where they are connected together.
3. Applicator for mascara according to claim 1 or claim 2 the branches of which are five in number (41...45).
4. Applicator for mascara according to one of the preceding claims, each protrusion of the applicator having a length comprised between 0.2 mm and 2.5 mm.
5. Applicator for mascara according to one of the preceding claims, wherein, on each branch (4), the protrusions (8) are aligned in two rows or in three rows between the base (2) and the free end (3).
6. Applicator for mascara according to claim 5, wherein the protrusions (8) of two adjacent rows are disposed in staggered arrangement.
7. Applicator for mascara according to one of the preceding claims, wherein each branch turns, from the base (2) to the free end (3) of the applicator and around the main axis (A), through an angle comprised between 45° and 90°, preferably comprised between 55° and 75°.
8. Applicator for mascara according to one of the preceding claims formed from a thermoplastic polymer selected from: - polyamide, - polyacrylamide, and - polyetherketoneketone.
9. Applicator for mascara according to one of the preceding claims formed by additive manufacturing by thermoplastic polymer powder bed fusion.
