A method for manufacturing a 3D item (10) comprising an electronic component (40), wherein the method comprises the step of printing with a fused deposition modeling 3D printer (500) a 3D printable material (201) to provide said 3D item (10), wherein the 3D printable material (201) comprises said electronic component (40), wherein the fused deposition modeling 3D printer (500) comprises a printer nozzle (502), wherein the method further comprises the steps of providing upstream of the printer nozzle (502) a filament (320) of 3D printable material (201), and creating upstream of the printer nozzle (502) an assembly of the filament (320) and the electronic component (40). 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the electronic component (40) comprises an active electronic component. 3. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the electronic component (40) comprises a solid state light source (141). 4. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the filament (320) comprises a cavity (331) for hosting the electronic component (40), and wherein the method further comprises the step of arranging the electronic component (40) in the cavity (331) upstream of the printer nozzle (502). 5. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the method further comprises the step of pressing the electronic component (40) in the filament (320) upstream of the printer nozzle (502), and wherein prior to pressing the electronic component (40) in the filament (320) the filament (320) is locally heated at a position (332) where the electronic component (40) is to be arranged. 6. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, further comprising electrically connecting the electronic component (40) with an electrical conductor (51). 7. The method according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the wherein the 3D printable material (201) comprises said electronic component (40) and one or more electrical conductors (51) for functionally coupling the electronic component (40) with a source of electrical energy. 8. The method according to claim 7, wherein a plurality of solid state light sources (141) electrically connected in series or parallel with electrical conductors (51) are comprised by a filament (320) of 3D printable material (201), with the electrical conductors (51) configured parallel to a longitudinal axis (A) of the filament (320). 9. The method according to claim 8, wherein the fused deposition modeling 3D printer (500) comprises a printer nozzle (502), wherein the method comprises providing said (a) plurality of solid state light sources (141) electrically connected in series or parallel with said electrical conductors (51) and (b) a filament (320), and wherein the method comprises combining said solid state light sources (141) electrically connected in series or parallel with said electrical conductors (51) and said filament (320) upstream of the printer nozzle (502) to provide downstream of said printer nozzle (502) printable material (201) comprising said plurality of solid state light sources (141) electrically connected in series or parallel with said electrical conductors (51). 10. The method according to any one of the preceding claims 7-9, wherein one or more electrical conductors (51) provided to the fused deposition modeling 3D printer (500) have a spring-like segment (52) allowing at least an elongation parallel to a length of the one or more electrical conductors (51).
