The upper (390, 1200) of claim 1, wherein the strand-trace path extends at least partially along the polymer-trace path, particularly wherein the polymer-trace path and the strand-trace path intersect at an angle in a plurality of positions on the traced element (304), further particularly wherein the polymer-trace path comprises a plurality of curvilinear portions. 3. The upper (390, 1200) of any of claims 1 to 2, wherein the first polymer layer (320, 420) is polymer-bonded to the second polymer layer (320, 922) adjacent to the material strand (322, 624), particularly wherein the traced element (304) forms at least one lace aperture loop. 4. The upper (390, 1200) of any of claims 1 to 3, wherein at least a portion of the material strand (322, 624) is unattached to the first polymer layer (320, 420). 5. The upper (390, 1200) of any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the material strand (322, 624) is at least partially formed from a polytetrafluoroethylene material. 6. The upper (390, 1200) of any of claims 1 to 5, wherein the upper (390) further comprises a base layer, and the traced element (304) is positioned on and secured to at least a portion of an outer surface of the base layer or wherein the upper (390) consists of the traced element (304). 7. The upper (390, 1200) of any of claims 1 to 2, wherein the strand layer (322, 624) further comprises at least one additional material strand (322, 624). 8. The upper (390, 1200) of claim 1, wherein the first polymer layer (320, 420) further defines at least one additional polymer-trace path. 9. A method of manufacturing an upper (390, 1200) for an article of footwear, the method including the steps of: depositing a first layer of polymer material (320, 420) on a receiving layer and along a polymer-trace path; positioning a strand (322, 624) along a strand-trace path and over the first layer of polymer material (320, 420) ; and depositing a second layer of polymer material (320, 922) along the polymer-trace path and over both the first layer of polymer material (320, 420) and the strand (322, 624), wherein the first layer of polymer material (320, 420), the strand (322, 624), and the second layer of polymer material (320, 420) surround a plurality of openings (1250), selecting the strand (322, 624) to have an average width that is at least 5 percent of an average width of the first layer of polymer material (320, 420). 10. The method of manufacturing of claim 9, wherein the strand-trace path extends at least partially along the polymer-trace path, particularly wherein the polymer-trace path and the strand-trace path intersect at an angle in a plurality of positions, further particularly comprising the step of bonding the first layer of polymer material (320, 420) to the second layer of polymer material (320, 922) adjacent to the strand (322, 624). 11.
