An article of footwear (100; 500; 600), comprising: an upper (102; 502; 602); a tubular structure (140; 530; 630) including a first end (142), a second end (144) and an intermediate portion (146) disposed between the first end (142) and the second end (144); the tubular structure (140; 530; 630) forming a tunnel (141) extending through the tubular structure (140; 530; 630) from the first end (142) to the second end (144); a first tensile strand (164; 532) extending through at least a portion of the tunnel (141) of the tubular structure (140; 530; 630); the intermediate portion (146) of the tubular structure (140; 530; 630) further comprising a tubular portion (147; 634) and a tab portion (200; 538) that extends away from the tubular portion (147; 634); and wherein the tab portion (200; 538) is attached to the article of footwear (100; 500; 600) and anchors the tubular structure (140; 530; 630) to the article of footwear (100; 500; 600), characterized in that the article of footwear (100; 500; 600) further includes a sole structure (110; 510; 610), the sole structure (110; 510; 610) and the upper (102; 502; 602) are joined at least along a bite line (125; 615), and the tab portion (200) is disposed between the upper (102; 502; 602) and the sole structure (110; 510; 610), or the article of footwear (500) further includes a heel counter (520), and the tab portion (538) is attached to the heel counter (520).
2. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 1, wherein the tab portion is attached to a surface of the upper (102; 502; 602).
3. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 1, wherein the tab portion is attached to a surface of the sole structure (110; 510; 610) proximate the bite line (125; 615).
4. The article of footwear (600) according to claim 1, wherein: the article of footwear (600) further includes an eyestay (650); and wherein the tab portion (640) is attached to the eyestay (650).

The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 1, wherein: the intermediate portion (146) of the tubular structure (140; 530; 630) includes a surface with an opening (150; 536), the opening (150; 536) extending to the tunnel (141); the first tensile strand (164; 532) is configured to extend through the tunnel (141) of the tubular structure (140; 530; 630); the article of footwear (100; 500; 600) further comprises a second tensile strand (180; 534) having a first portion attached to an attachment region of the article of footwear (100; 500; 600); the second tensile strand (180; 534) is also configured to have a second portion engaged with the first tensile strand (164; 532) proximate the opening (150; 536); and the intermediate portion (146) is disposed adjacent the bite line (125; 615) of the article of footwear (100; 500; 600).
6. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 5, wherein the first tensile strand (164; 532) extends out of the opening (150; 536) and engages the second tensile strand (180; 534) externally to the tunnel (141).
7. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 5, wherein the second tensile strand (180; 534) extends into the opening (150; 536) and engages the first tensile strand (164; 532) within the tunnel (141).
8. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) as in any of claims 5-7, wherein the first end (142) of a tunnel structure and the second end (144) of the tunnel structure have openings.
9. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) as in any of claims 5-8, wherein the intermediate portion (146) includes two or more openings (150; 536).
10. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 5, wherein the intermediate portion (146) includes a plurality of openings (150; 536), and wherein a spacing between the plurality of openings (150; 536) is regular.
11. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) according to claim 5, wherein the intermediate portion (146) includes a plurality of openings (150; 536) and wherein a spacing between the plurality of openings is irregular (150; 536).
12. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) as in any of claims 5-11, wherein two or more tensile strands pass through the tunnel (141).
13. The article of footwear (100; 500; 600) as in any of claims 5-11, wherein an end of the first tensile strand (164; 532) exits the tunnel (141) through the opening (150; 536) in the intermediate portion (146).
14. A method of making an article of footwear (1210; 1254; 1264) with an upper (1202), comprising: receiving a customized design for a tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260); printing a print material onto a surface of the upper (1202) to form the tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260) with a tunnel (1102), wherein the tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260) is printed with an opening that extends from the surface of the tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260) to the tunnel (1102); printing the print material to form a tab portion (1104; 1256; 1266) that is integral with the tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260); and inserting a tensile strand (1110) through the tunnel (1102) of the tubular structure (1100; 1250; 1260), characterized by attaching a sole structure (1204) to the upper (1202) so that the tab portion (1104) extends between the upper (1202) and the sole structure (1204), or printing the tab portion (1256) onto a heel counter (1252) of the article of footwear (1254) such that the tab portion (1262) bonds to the heel counter (1252).
15. The method according to claim 14, further comprising printing the tab portion (1266) onto an eyestay (1262) of the article of footwear (1264) such that the tab portion (1266) bonds to the eyestay (1262).
