摘要:
The invention refers to the system of modular shelving units. The technical effect lies in the possibility of simple improvement of a modular shelving unit. The modular system comprises a plurality of shelving units. Each shelving unit comprises at least two pairs of parallel sides covered on their exteriors with alternating ridges and grooves sized and shaped so that each ridge of each unit is capable of mating with any groove of any other unit. For a given pair of parallel sides, every ridge on one side is intersected by a plane that both intersects a groove on the other side in the pair, and is perpendicular to both sides in the pair. Each shelving unit has at least one ridge mated with a groove of another unit.

The patent text describes a modular shelving system that uses identical or similar units for easy assembly and flexibility. The technical problem addressed by the patent is the need for a shelving system that is simple to use, interchangeable between different placements, and aesthetically pleasing.
权利要求:
1. A modular shelving system comprising: a plurality of shelving units (101); wherein each shelving unit (101) forms a rectangular prism, wherein the prism includes two pairs of parallel sides covered on their exteriors with strips comprising alternating ridges (102) and grooves (103) sized and shaped so that each ridge (102) of each unit (101) is capable of mating with any groove (103) of any other unit, wherein for each corner of one pair of diagonally-opposite corners of the rectangular prism, each ridge (102) meets a groove (103) and each groove (103) meets a ridge (102), and for each corner of the other pair of diagonally-opposite corners of the rectangular prism, each ridge meets a ridge (102) and each groove (103) meets a groove (103), wherein the ridges (102) and the grooves (103) are square-wave shaped, and the ridges (102) and the grooves (103) have equal widths; wherein, for a given pair of sides, every ridge on one side is intersected by a plane that both intersects a groove on the other side in the pair, and is perpendicular to both sides in the pair; and wherein each shelving unit (101) has at least one ridge (102) mated with a groove of another unit, and each shelving unit is capable of being arranged to be aligned with or offset from an adjacent shelving unit.
2. The system of Claim 1, wherein one pair of parallel sides is about twice as long as the other pair of parallel sides.
3. The system of Claim 2, wherein a ridge (102) on the first side of one shelving unit (101) is mated with a groove (103) on the second side of another shelving unit.
4. The system of any of Claims 1 to 3, wherein each unit (101) is made of wood.
5. The system of any of Claims 1 to 4, wherein each side of each unit (101) is formed from a single integral piece.
6. The system of any of Claims 1 to 5, wherein each unit (101) is formed of exactly four sides joined together.
7. The system of any of Claims 1 to 6, wherein the number of ridges (102) on each side of each unit (101) is equal to the number of grooves (103) on each side of each unit (101).
8. The system of any of Claims 1 to 7, wherein: the sides define an open front in a front plane that is perpendicular to the two pairs of parallel sides; and for a given pair of sides, every ridge (102) on one side is intersected along an entire length of the ridge (102) by a plane that (a) intersects a groove (103) on the other side in the pair along an entire length of the groove (103), (b) is perpendicular to both sides in the pair, and (c) is parallel to the front plane.
9. The system of Claim 8, wherein the two pairs of parallel sides also define an open rear in a rear plane, the rear plane being parallel to the front plane.
10. The system of any of Claims 1 to 9, wherein the interior of the prism has a smooth surface.
