The articles are generally formed, in whole or in part, using rapid manufacturing techniques, such as laser sintering, stereolithography, solid deposition modeling, and the like. The use of rapid manufacturing allows for relatively economical and time efficient manufacture of customized articles. The articles may include one or more reinforcements configured to provide added durability to various regions of the articles. In addition, the articles may be formed from two or more materials in a single rapid manufacturing process. The rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique may also include using of varying intensities of the laser to fuse material to form the articles.

1. An article of footwear (200), comprising: a sole structure (208) including a midsole (210) and an outsole (212); an upper (206) connected to the sole structure and forming a void for receiving a foot of a wearer, the upper being formed using a first rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique; and at least one reinforced region (202, 204) formed as a separate portion from the upper and connected to the upper with at least one of stitching, mechanical fasteners, and adhesives, the at least one reinforced region including a reinforcement formed using a second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique.
2. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the first and second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques are the same rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique.
3. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the first and second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques are different rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques.
4. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the reinforcement is a toe region reinforcement (204).
5. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the reinforcement (302) is located in a vamp forefoot region of the article of footwear.
6. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the reinforcement includes an eyelet reinforcement (202).
7. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the reinforcement includes a collar region reinforcement (404).
8. The article of footwear (200) of claim 1, wherein the upper (206) is formed of a thermoplastic elastomer material as multiple successive layers of fuse bonded particles of the thermoplastic elastomer material in the first rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique.
9. A method of forming an article of footwear (200), comprising: forming an upper (206) using a first rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique, wherein the upper forms a void for receiving a foot of a wearer; forming a reinforcement (202, 204) as a separate portion from the upper using a second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique; connecting the reinforcement to the upper with at least one of stitching, mechanical fasteners, and adhesives; and connecting the upper with a sole structure (208), wherein the sole structure includes a midsole (210) and an outsole (212).
10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first and second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques are the same rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique.
11. The method of claim 9, wherein the first and second rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques are different rapid manufacturing additive fabrication techniques.
12. The method of claim 9, wherein the reinforcement is a toe region reinforcement (204).
13. The method of claim 9, wherein the reinforcement (302) is located in a vamp forefoot region of the article of footwear (200).
14. The method of claim 9, wherein the reinforcement includes an eyelet reinforcement (202) or a collar reinforcement (404).
15. The method of claim 9, wherein the step of forming the upper (206) using the first rapid manufacturing additive fabrication technique includes fuse bonding particles of a thermoplastic elastomer material so as to form the upper as multiple successive layers of the fuse bonded particles of the thermoplastic elastomer material.
