权利要求:
1. A method for labeling an article of fabric, said method comprising the steps of: (a) providing a heat transfer label (911, 1011, 1111, 1211, 1311), said heat transfer label (911, 1011, 1111, 1211) comprising: (i) a transfer portion (121, 1221), said transfer portion (121, 1221) comprising: an ink design layer (125, 225, 1225, 1325); a heat-activatable adhesive layer (127, 227, 1332) ; and an RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330); and (ii) a support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313), said transfer portion (121, 1221) being positioned over said support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) for transfer of the transfer portion (121, 1221) from the support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) to an article of fabric under conditions of heat and pressure, said support portion comprising a carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315), (b) transferring the transfer portion (121, 1221) from the support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) to the article of fabric under conditions of heat and pressure; characterized in that: the support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) further comprises a wax release layer (219, 1219, 1319), said wax release layer (219, 1219, 1319) being deposited over said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315), said transfer portion (121, 1221) being positioned over said wax release layer (219, 1219, 1319); and the heat-activatable adhesive layer (127, 227, 1332) is printed directly over the RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330).
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) is selected from the group consisting of paper, polymer-coated paper, and a polymeric film.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) is a polymeric film.
4. The method as claimed in claim 3, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) is selected from the group consisting of a polyester film and an oriented polypropylene film.
5. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) is selected from the group consisting of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film and a poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate)(PEN) film.
6. The method as claimed in claim 4 or 5, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) has a thickness of 12.7 to 177.8 µm [0.5 to 7.0 mil].
7. The method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said carrier (215, 115, 1215, 1315) has a thickness of 22.9 to 76.2 µm [0.9 to 3.0 mil].
8. The method as claimed in any one preceding claim, wherein said wax release layer (219, 1219, 1319) has a thickness of 0.1 to 20 microns and comprises a polyethylene-based wax.
9. The method as claimed in any one preceding claim, wherein said ink design layer (125, 225, 1225, 1325) is formed using a polyvinyl chloride-based resin.
10. A heat-transfer label (911, 1011, 1111, 1211) suitable for labeling fabric comprising: (a) a support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313); and (b) a transfer portion (121, 1221), said transfer portion (121, 1221) being positioned over said support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) for transfer of the transfer portion (121, 1221) from the support portion (2B, 113, 213, 1213, 1313) to an article of fabric under conditions of heat and pressure, said transfer portion (121, 1221) comprising: (i) an ink design layer (125, 225, 1225, 1325); (ii) a heat-activatable adhesive layer (127, 227, 1332) ; and (iii) an RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330); characterized in that the heat-activatable adhesive layer (127, 227, 1332) is printed directly over the RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330).
11. The heat-transfer label as claimed in claim 10, wherein said RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330) is positioned between said ink design layer (125, 225, 1225, 1325) and said heat-activatable adhesive layer (127, 227, 1332).
12. The heat-transfer label as claimed in claim 10 or 11, wherein said RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330) is an RFID IC (912, 1012) having a built- in antenna.
13. The heat-transfer label as claimed in any one of claims 10 to 12, wherein said RFID device (912, 1012, 1113, 1229, 1329, 1330) is an RFID strap (1113).
14. The heat-transfer label as claimed in any one of claims 10 to 13, wherein said transfer portion (121, 1221) further comprises a mask layer (1226, 1326).
