摘要:
Various articles, such as footwear, apparel, athletic equipment, watchbands, and the like, and methods of forming those articles are presented. The articles are generally formed, in whole or in part, using rapid manufacturing techniques, such as laser sintering, stereolithography, solid deposition modeling, and the like. The use of rapid manufacturing allows for relatively economical and time efficient manufacture of customized articles. Portions of the articles may be manufactured using rapid manufacturing and those portions may be joined with portions formed using conventional, non-rapid manufacturing techniques. The methods may also include performing a scan of an appropriate body part of a user, such as a foot, in order to create a customized article of footwear for the user.
技术问题语段:
The patent text discusses the limitations of traditional methods of manufacturing articles such as footwear and apparel. These methods require expensive molding equipment and can result in material waste. Additionally, they often leave little ability for customization to the specific needs of the user. The technical problem addressed in this patent is to provide a faster and more cost-effective method of manufacturing articles that allows for greater customization options for the user.
技术功效语段:
A scan of a person's foot can be used to create a custom-fitted shoe or other footwear that matches the unique physical features of their foot. This process uses advanced manufacturing techniques to create a shoe that is tailor-made to the individual. Additionally, the shoe can also be designed with specific design features by the user or a designer.
权利要求:
1. A method of manufacturing an article of footwear (100), comprising: forming at least one portion of an upper (102), the at least one portion of the upper being formed from a thermoplastic elastomer material fused together using a rapid manufacturing technique comprising building the at least one portion of the upper from a three-dimensional design in a data file using an automated layer by layer process; forming a midsole (122), the midsole being separate from the upper and including at least one midsole impact force attenuation system (116), wherein at least a portion of the midsole is formed from a thermoplastic elastomer material using a rapid manufacturing technique; and engaging the at least one portion of the upper to the midsole. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the rapid manufacturing techniques for forming the at least one portion of the upper and the at least a portion of the midsole includes at least one of laser sintering, solid deposition modeling and stereolithography. 3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of forming the at least one portion of an upper (102) includes forming an entire upper configured to substantially surround a portion of a foot. 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of forming the at least one portion of an upper (102) includes forming a plurality of eyelets in the upper. 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one midsole impact force attenuation system (116) is at least one of a column type impact force attenuation system, a foam core type impact force attenuation system, and a fluid-filled bladder type impact force attenuation system. 6. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of engaging the at least one portion of the upper (102) to the midsole (122) includes stitching the at least one portion of the upper to the midsole. 7. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of engaging the at least one portion of the upper (102) to the midsole (122) includes adhesively bonding the upper to the midsole. 8. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one midsole impact force attenuation system (116) includes a plurality of interlocked links (504).
